Helen has had an interest in natural therapies and healing
since the late 90's and began her training in therapies in London in 2000. However, it was not until a very serious
accident in May 2002 that she realised how amazing and powerful these therapies actually were.
Her accident resulted in many injuries, the more serious
being a broken back and a head injury.
However, a combination of intense physiotherapy, complementary
therapies and a positive mental attitude saw Helen freed from her body cast - and her pain, within just three months!
Helen, who now has fortnightly treatments from other
therapists, says that the fact she has not had any pain or problems since 2002 is testimony to the power
of complementary therapies.
Having had trouble sourcing therapists in her local
area, Helen decided to relocate to her home town of Larne, where she had spent her time recuperating, and set up a business
which offers a range of complementary therapies to suit everyone.
At the end of 2002 she approached her local
enterprise agency, Ledcom and began their fantastic 'Business Start' program. They then put her in touch with the
Princes Trust for funding, as she had now been unable to work for six months. The Princes Trust provided Helen with
a low interest loan to start her business and buy the basic equipment needed to make the salon a success.
On 6th May 2003, exactly one year to the day of the
accident,
Harmony Therapies was born!
Since opening, Helen has been recognised from local
awards to UK National awards. Through her business and her story she has met many famous people including Prince
Andrew and Princes Charles at separate events.
